1. Please prepare the following material, including 2 pieces of Lime wooden stick, about 20 Beech rods, hot glue gun, ice-cream wooden sticks, cord or iron wire with plastic protection and also a piece of wooden board.

You can find some of the materials in the following websites.

2. Plug in the hot glue gun and let it heat up. Please be aware not to touch the metallic part of the hot glue gun when it is plugged in. Also please let the hot glue gun stand like it is in the following picture.

3. Assemble a beech rod and 2 Lime wooden stick with plastic protected iron wire as the following picture. You can use a wood file which has a similar size as the beech rod to make a mortise on the 2 Lime wooden stick, which allowsthe beech rod and wooden stick assembled easier. This Beech rod will serve as the cross beam of the structure of Shelter.

4. Add in some hot glue or super glue in the joint, which makes the structure more stable.

This part should be very stable since it is the most important structure of the model.

5. Align the beech rods with the structure and see how many of them you can put within the distance between the 2 Lime wooden stick.

6. Use the hot glue gun to glue the beech rods you measured in step 5. A part that looks like a mini raft will be created after that, and this part will serve as the cover of the shelter.

7. Hang the cover on the beech rod between the 2 Lime wooden stick as the image shows. THe bottom part of the cover should be touching the wooden base or the table.

8. If you just hang the cover with any adhesive, the cover will slide easily. Therefore add hotglue in the connection between the cover and the cross beam to fix them together. If you want to use a base, please also put a wooden board below the model and measure the space for the model, ensure that no parts of the shelter is away from the wooden board. Then use hot glue to fix the 2 Lime wooden stick on the wooden board.

9. Break the ice-cream wooden stick into half and glue them according to the image below. Be aware that you should leave a small hole in the middle of this part just as the image does. The function of this part is to simulate a campfire, so the wooden stick here serve as firewoods, while the hole in the middle serves as a space for the LED colour light to light up. This mini campfire model will cover on top of the Sam Labs RGB LED, while you will know more about the coding of the LED light in the following Coding Tutorial in order to create a realistic campfire.

10. Please check out the next article "Coding Tutorial" to work on the coding part of this interactive model. After that, You can put some human figures with a piece of cloth covering them, which looks like people are keeping warm inside the shelter. Once the coding is done, cover up the Light sensor, and you will see the simulation of the survival in the arctic. That's how the interactive model is created.
